What I Build
Web Design
Bespoke websites built around your business, not a template. Most developers build functional sites; I build beautiful ones, with a graphic designer's eye and no agency runaround.
- Custom design
- Mobile-first
- Built to convert
- SEO foundations
Web Apps
More than just websites. I build functional web applications with the features your business needs, from content management to bespoke tools that solve a real operational problem.
- Custom web apps
- CMS integration
- Interactive features
- Performance-first
Hosting & Domains
I handle the technical side so you do not have to. Domain registration, hosting setup, SSL certificates, and ongoing maintenance all taken care of.
- Domain registration
- Fast, secure hosting
- SSL certificates
- Ongoing support
Content Management
Send a change over and I will handle it, usually the same day. Everyday updates are always included, no sneaky invoices, or I can build you a CMS to do it yourself.
- Quick turnaround updates
- Optional CMS
- No lock-in
- Full control

How I Work
Discovery
A proper conversation about your business, your brand, and your goals. Face to face if you are local, video call if not.
Design
Layouts crafted with the mind of a graphic designer and the eye of a photographer. Every element is intentional.
Build
Clean, fast, accessible code built for performance and SEO from the ground up.
Launch
Domain, hosting, SSL, testing. I handle every detail of deployment.
Support
I do not disappear after launch. Ongoing updates and maintenance included.
Common Questions
Kombu is a one-person creative studio in Southampton run by Ryan Stanikk, covering web design, graphic design, commercial photography and marketing. The name comes from kombu kelp, the quiet ingredient that makes everything around it better: one person handling the whole stack so it all pulls in the same direction.
Starter sites are £49 per month or £199 to build, Business sites £79 per month or £299, and Professional sites £149 per month or £499. Every plan includes hosting, SSL, domain setup and ongoing support, with no hidden fees. After the 12-month term, monthly plans drop to a lower retainer.
Most projects are measured in days and weeks rather than weeks and months. A single-page site is often ready in one to two weeks, while larger multi-page or custom builds take longer. You will have a realistic timeline from the very first conversation.
Yes. I am based in Southampton and work with businesses right across Hampshire, including Eastleigh, Winchester, Portsmouth, Fareham and Romsey, and remotely with clients anywhere in the UK. If you are local I will meet you in person; if you are further afield I work over video call.
The more you can provide, the more I can get your website right from the start. That said, I do my own research and dig out any details that have been missed, and as a commercial photographer I can create imagery for your site too. Between what you give me and what I find, I will have everything I need.
Yes. Domain registration, hosting, SSL and ongoing maintenance are all included in your plan. You own everything, there is no lock-in, and I handle every technical detail so you do not have to.
You talk to me, not an account manager, a junior developer or a sales team. I am a designer first, so I care about how things look and how they work. Changes happen fast because there are no layers of approval, everyday updates are included rather than itemised on an invoice, and your site stays current instead of frozen the moment the build is signed off.
Is your website holding you back?
Drop your URL below and I will personally review your site. You will get honest, no-nonsense feedback on what is working, what is not, and what could be better. No automated reports, just real insights from a designer.
Almost there. Hit send in WhatsApp and I will take a look and come back with honest feedback.
Your site, sorted.
A coffee in Southampton if you are local, a video call if you are not. Either way, a proper chat about what your website needs, not a sales pitch.
